BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS (August 30, 2016) – This winter, sailors can experience Offshore Sailing School’s new racing clinic in private island luxury, Dec. 4-9 at Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina in the British Virgin Islands. Developed for racing skippers and crew seeking to build confidence and skills, as well as established sailors ready to get into racing, the new racing clinic will feature a four-day racing program hosted by National Sailing Hall of Fame Inductee, Steve Colgate. Program activities will consist of racing clinics aboard four high-performance Colgate 26 keelboats, shore seminars, parties and a regatta for trophies.
“We’re delighted to host the new Offshore Sailing School racing program at Scrub Island Resort, which has become a popular sailing hotspot in the BVI,” said Federico Ciampi, resort manager for Scrub Island. “Along with world-class sailing conditions, participants and their families will love discovering our three private beaches, award-winning spa, superb dining outlets and our multi-tiered pool complete with a slide, swim-up bars and panoramic views.”
Inclusive packages for the racing clinic start at $3,975 per person for two people sharing a room or $4,885 for single, private accommodations, and include all the on-water and seminar instruction, five night’s at the resort, box lunches, cocktail parties, two dinners and more.
“This is the perfect location to learn to race or improve your competitive skills, with steady trade winds and a gorgeous resort for accompanying family to play while you’re on the water,” Steve Colgate said. “We encourage participants to bring family and loved ones and book an extra day or two to take advantage of all the resort has to offer.”
The event is limited to just 16 participants. Instruction at the clinic will be provided by veteran Offshore Performance Race Week coaches, led by Mumm Worlds Champion Rob (Bobby) Brooks. Joining Brooks are Tom Babel, Rod Favela, Mark Foster, and Brian Van Leeuwen, all expert racing sailors with years of coaching experience and multiple wins under their boat shoes.
