Southern heritage, French technique, and local flavor define the restaurant’s next chapter

MACON, Ga. (Feb 4, 2026) – Loom Comfort Kitchen & Cocktails, the signature restaurant at Hotel Forty Five, has unveiled a new menu that honors Southern roots while embracing refined, globally influenced technique. Led by Executive Sous Chef McAuthor Johnson, the refreshed offerings reflect a decade-long culinary journey shaped by family traditions, local ingredients, and a deep respect for comfort-driven cooking done well.

Johnson’s approach blends the soulful flavors he grew up with in Huntsville, Alabama, with classical training and modern execution. The result is a menu that feels both familiar and elevated, grounded in Middle Georgia while confident in its point of view.

“Our new menu lives at the intersection of memory and craft,” said Johnson. “These are dishes inspired by where I come from, refined through technique, and built to bring people together around the table.”

Standout dishes include a reimagined NOLA BBQ Shrimp, finished with a rich sauce made using local lager from Fall Line Brewing Co. and served over creamy grits with grilled sourdough. The Creole Coq au Vin layers French technique with Southern sensibility, braising a rustic half-chicken with Holy Trinity aromatics and foraged mushrooms. Additional highlights include Braised Wagyu Beef Cheeks prepared low and slow for deep richness, The Daily Catch showcasing the freshest seasonal seafood, and a Fall Harvest Panzanella that brings Southern warmth to an Italian classic.

True to its name, Loom Comfort Kitchen & Cocktails continues to weave a tapestry of food, place, and memory, offering a dining experience that feels personal, intentional, and rooted in the region. Weekly specials and seasonal programming further position Loom as a go-to dining destination in downtown Macon.
