The Bartender will be responsible for ensuring exceptional service to all guests that is consistent and continually in accordance to the Hotel Forty Five. service standards and standards of Mainsail Lodging & Development. The Bartenders will also be responsible for making alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages by the recipe and delivering high quality food and drinks in a clean and friendly environment. The Bartender must possess all required alcohol server training documents and licenses.

Essential Functions

  • General knowledge of cocktail crafting and mixology fundamentals
  • Curate guests’ bar experience by making recommendations
  • Knowledge of all beverages to include liquors and wines
  • Serves guests in an efficient courteous manner following the proper steps of service
  • Knowledge of proper cocktail making.
  • Have necessary tools to run the shift such as pen, corkscrew, any bar tools, etc.
  • Ability to pair wines with meals
  • Understanding that bar serves full menu and must be prepared as much to serve full coursed or shared meals to guests
  • Light food running when applicable, ability to carry plates that may be warm or hot
  • Knowledge of all menu items to include: prep time, preparations, sauces, allergies, and accompaniments
  • Collect payment for food and beverages served
  • Follow practices to ensure safe and responsible serving of alcohol
  • Be aware of any specials, soups, drinks, and any items that are running low
  • Ability to handle station, or when situations arise, ability to let manager/supervisor know ahead of time so as not to affect the guest experience
  • Follow cash handling procedures, and must be able to explain shortages and overages
  • Maintain bar area
  • Clean glasses, utensils, and bar equipment
  • Perform other duties as management requests to service our guests. 

Qualification Standards

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or higher
  • Previous hospitality experience required
  • Minimum 2-year bartending experience in high volume bar or restaurant
  • Must have valid Macon-Bibb County Alcohol Handler’s Beverage License
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to use technology e.g. tablets, iPads

  • Ability to work long hours as needed

NOTICE:  The hotel business functions seven days a week, 24 hours a day.  All employees must realize this fact and be aware that at all times it may be necessary to move associates from their accustomed shift as business demands.  In addition, this is a hospitality business and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times.
