YOUR ROLE

As a Sous Chef, we count on you to execute the Executive Chef’s vision all while bringing your energy and enthusiasm to work each and every day. We are a team but understand that there is a hierarchy in the kitchen. We are humble and strive to put out the best dish each and every time. You’ll help lead a brand new kitchen (thank you COVID!) and a renewed focus and menu for our Kitchen and Bar concept.

You mix equal parts enthusiasm, attention to detail, and knowledge of our extensive food and beverage options. Educate and inform, train, and engage. Season with a great attitude that makes work fun. We strive for loyalty beyond reason!

Essential Functions

  • Assist with the day to day managing of the kitchen staff
  • Execute on Chef’s vision and menu
  • Continually train the cooks on new products and recipes
  • Continually develop yourself with regards of skills and knowledge
  • Work with Chef to develop new process improvements
  • Follow SafeServe practices to ensure safe and responsible serving of food
  • Maintain the kitchen work area in an orderly and clean condition
  • Assist the Executive Chef with scheduling of kitchen staff
  • Maintain a sense of ownership for the hotel/restaurant

Hotel Performance

  • Ensure successful performance assisting guests with an exceptional experience to ensure high performing scores on the GSS according to Marriott

Qualification Standards

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent or higher
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a restaurant
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Corrected vision to normal range
  • Ability to use knives and kitchen machinery safely and effectively
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs.
  • Ability to work long hours as needed

  • Make sound judgments quickly
  • Ability to work with others in a high demand kitchen
  • Work on multiple tasks, making appropriate progress towards deadlines
  • Able to work independently, take direction, and provide direction to others
